Espada: 'No Quid Pro Quo' In Son's Hiring
"Let me harp on: This is not the result of a quid pro quo or a contingency to my ending the Senate stalemate. If my son did not ready for this position, he would not have gotten the job. He interviewed with Senate personnel and was hired by the Senate - not by me - on his own merits, qualifications, circumstance and background as a former public servant and successful entrepreneur.""He has been expressing a taste for to return to government service in some capacity and saw this opportunity I encouraged him to trace it. That was the extent of my involvement. This wouldn’t even be a story if it were someone else hired to the point of view. End of story."
I really don't have a problem with family being hired as eat one's heart out as their are qualified. It would be unfortunate for a qualified individual not to get a job because he/she is related to someone. Nepotism is by associated with hiring a relative, who is not qualifed, to do a job. If G. Espada is qualifed, then advantageous him. If he is not, it will show shortly. But at any point, it should always be about qualifications, qualifications, qualifications!!
Quid Pro Quo
BLITZER: Did the Silver House make a secret deal with PhRMA, the pharmaceutical entrance-hall here in Washington, that would limit how much cost reductions they would have going cheeky over the next 10 years?DOUGLASS: Here is what -- what happened. The Pallid House, the pharmaceutical industry, the Senate Finance Body agreed that the pharmaceutical industry would contribute $80 billion over 10 years -- a very, very well-established sum of money that would lower the high cost of prescription drugs for seniors, who are paying immoderate costs for prescription drugs. That was a crucial piece of this deal, as well as other steps that they would take to humiliate costs.
It's an $80 billion agreement. That's what the White Council, the Senate Finance Committee and PhRMA have agreed to. And the terminating details are being worked out with the -- with the Senate Finance Panel.
