'Madea Goes to Jail' isn't perfect, but is entertaining
With "Madea Goes to Jail," the designation tells part of the story. Perry's feisty alter ego (one of three roles he plays onscreen, in beyond to writer-director duties offscreen) winds up in the slammer after one altercation too many. The other half of the covering follows Derek Luke's assistant district attorney as he tries to nick out an old friend (Keshia Knight Pulliam) who's now a prostitute, while keeping his irate intendede (Ion Overman) at bay.
